Job
Description:
* Design RF power amplifier
circuits, sub-assemblies and technologically superior architectures to produce new
products.
* Generate
and review design documentation in accordance with the Engineering Development
Process (EDP).
* Develop, implement and
supervise test plans.
* Manage complex technical projects to ensure adherence to target performance, cost and schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee schematic and layout design of circuits of subordinates in support
of RF cellular communications products. Oversee communication and supervision
for the transition of these designs to PCB layout and Mechanical Engineering.
Review and retain responsibility for the circuit and subassembly designs of
subordinates.
2. Oversee integration design tasks of circuits and sub-assemblies into the
top-level designs. Review and retain responsibility for system level designs
of subordinates.
3. Develop and implement design verification test plans at top level.
Generate detailed test reports including presentation of all data,
introductions, conclusions, and recommendations to a professional engineering
standard.
4. Develop, implement and supervise design verification test plans at system

5. Develop design documentation in accordance with requirements of the EDP to
a professional engineering standard. Review and retains overall responsibility
for design documentation of subordinate team members. Act as a reviewer for
design reviews.
6. Maintain comprehensive Engineering notebooks documenting all general
technical activities. Provide direct line manager with activity summary
(activities, accomplishments and issues) and records on PW time.
7. Provide technical support and management to Manufacturing, Quality and Reliability
organizations for failure analysis, root cause and corrective action
assessment, technical training and yield improvement efforts.
8. Maintain knowledge of current technical advancements in the general field
of RF/Digital electronics commensurate with the Principal Engineering level.
9. Generate novel and unique solutions to technical challenges including, but
not limited to circuit, software or system architecture.
10. Manage complex technical project teams with overall responsibility for
technical performance, cost and schedules, interface with customers, internal
departments and outside vendors as needed.
11. Provide technical leadership, mentoring and functional guidance on
projects, as well as technical support to other projects on an as-needed basis.
Project Engineering
Responsibilities
1.
Will direct, coordinate, and exercise functional authority for planning,
organizing, integrating, and completion of engineering project within assigned
responsibility.
2. Review product designs per EDP for compliance with engineering principles,
company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
3. Plan and formulate engineering program and organizes staff.
4. Coordinate activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and
resolving engineering design and test problems.
REQUISITES:
BS degree in Electronic Engineering
Twelve or more years of related experience.
Ability to use Word, Excel, Microsoft Project and Visio
software programs, to a level of professional proficiency. Able to produce professional Engineering reports including
introductions, conclusions and recommendations.
Proven capability to give meaningful presentations to design
teams and customers that are professional and clearly convey information.
Advanced knowledge of RF/Analog circuit design and/or
Digital/Analog circuit design.
Advanced RF and/or Digital lab skills.
Knowledge of Agile system.
Advanced knowledge of CAE (e.g. ADS, Auto Cad, HFSS, Mentor
Graphics, etc.)
DFM is implementation experience in conjunction with Manufacturing.
Proven ability to lead the technical design effort of systems
from concept to production including test methods and plans.
Advanced knowledge of control and communication theory.
Effective customer interface, providing presentations that
are persuasive and professional.
LARGE SIGNAL RF TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
1. In depth understanding of power amplifier design (greater than 10
Watts) using LDMOS, GaAs and other transistor
technologies for wireless infrastructure / base station applications.
2. Sound understanding of air interface standards and their impacts on power
amplifier design, performance, test and manufacture; e.g. CDMA, W-CDMA, WiMAX,
GSM, Edge, etc.
3. Fundamental understanding of reactive memory causes, effects and
minimization.
4. Design techniques
c. ADS simulation (Linear circuit simulator, harmonic balance, Ptolemy, planar
EM, etc)
d. Matching techniques
5. Capable of working with the Systems Group to develop power
module specifications and set reasonable expectations.
6. Well versed in design for manufacturability, including statistical analysis,
de-rating analysis, six-sigma, etc.
7. Experienced with the design and manufacture of Doherty
amplifier stages.
8. Familiar with envelope elimination and restoration, envelope tracking,
classes C, D, E, F and S, etc.
9. Highly experienced in RF budget (lineup) analysis.
