Sales Engineer – Internet/Carrier Services – West

SOHO - San Francisco Bay Area CA

Our client, a profitable public corporation established fifteen years ago, is seeking a Pre-Sales or Sales Systems/Engineer for their team and who will be responsible for the engineering and sales support of Internet Infrastructure Services. These solutions include network DNS platform and zone delegation solutions in addition to network architecture, IP Address Management and Global Server Load Balancing solutions.

Candidate must be able to communicate effectively to clients C-level decision makers in addition to technical staff.

Responsibilities:

• Provide pre-sales technical support by determining customer business and technical requirements and propose solutions to satisfy customers' telecom needs.
• Assist the sales and business operations teams in developing quality RFP/RFI responses in addition to sales proposals.
• Coordinate with the training team to provide technical assistance for all training ventures within the organization.
• Assist the company in providing the most competitive DNS product offerings possible.
• Understand the web/application monitoring industry and assist the company in providing the most competitive product offerings possible.

Qualifications:

• Basic/Intermediate multi-tier network architectures and equipment (switches, routers, caches, traffic distributors, firewalls).
• Comprehension of public DNS design principles, DNS platforms, BIND and DNS protocol.
• Comprehensive knowledge of DNS zone delegation, AXFR/IXFR, Dynamic DNS, DHCP.
• Comprehension of network architecture and various platforms (Unix, Linux, Windows, Mac O/S, Mainframe, various VOIP systems, etc.) and how those platforms interoperate with DNS and DHCP.
• Comprehension of IP Address Management (IPAM), Global Server Load Balancing (GSLB) tools and Microsoft Active Directory.
• Basic understanding of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), IP Anycast and database architectures.
• Understanding of network architectures and topologies as well as HTTP/HTTPS and other Internet protocols including their performance characteristics.
• Comprehension of Web page design and technologies (HTML element and object types, JavaScript, AJAX, Flash).
• Basic Web server infrastructure skills.
• Basic/Intermediate application server architecture (both J2EE and .NET) skills.

• Minimum four years of experience as a Pre-sales or Sales Engineer in the DNS, DHCP, IPAM (DDI), online commerce, web/application hosting sectors.
• Technical BS degree or equivalent education and experience.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio) skills.
• Basic SalesForce.com Skills.
