Telecom Solutions Engineer

Overview/Job Summary:
The Solutions Engineer will focus on establishing relationships within
specific lines of business of Communications Service Providers, the Client’s
primary customers. By gaining a strategic position within our Service Provider
customers, the candidate will help develop offerings that will drive them to
embrace Client’s portfolio of service offerings that are directly linked to Service
Provider’s networking, IP inter-operability, Mobile,
Enterprise and IP services objectives.
The Solutions Engineer will be partially responsible for quota attainment
as part of an integrated selling organization to maximize selling activities
across the Client’s account base. The Solutions Engineer will be
responsible for working with a cross-functional Account Team that develops and
implements sales, service and support plans for key lines of business with our Service
Provider customers whose telecom sectors include wireline, wireless and CATV Multiple
System Operators (MSO’s)
The Solutions Engineer will collaborate with Client’s Account team by
providing technical expertise and guidance in a pre-sales circumstance.
The Account team will develop and execute account-specific plans to drive technical
and bottom-line solutions (products and services) though various direct and
indirect sales channels. Additionally, the Solutions Engineer will provide
customers with a single point of contact for technical issues, increasing
customer satisfaction and driving customer loyalty.
Candidates may work virtual or from home office, and thus may reside
anywhere in the San Francisco Bay Area or surrounding communities.
Responsibilities/Key Tasks:
- Forge, shape and sustain trusted
relationships with senior technical decision makers in selected operations
/ infrastructure organizations within the assigned account base including:
- Network Architecture and
Design
- Network Deployment and
Operations
- Services Deployment, Design
and Architecture
- Procurement
- Advanced Services
- To help position Client as a strategic technical
partner for key deployments in IP and Mobile by demonstrating an
inordinate technical understanding of the customer’s technical strategies
and deployment plans in IP/ Next Generation networking and mobile
networking and applications.
- Lead technical discussions / solutions architecting
and identify how Client’s solutions can satisfy customer needs.
- Represent the customer’s requirements to Client’s
Solutions Marketing and Product Management divisions to drive necessary
customized solution development.
- Solutions Engineers will assist the Account Team in
achieving quota by providing pre-sales technical support with activities
such as requirements analysis, product and solution presentations over the
phone, online collaboration tools or in person, RFP/RFI responses and
design solution documentation.
- Assist the Sales and Business Operations teams in
developing quality RFP/RFI responses in addition to sales and solutions
proposals
- Additionally, Solutions Engineers provide the sales
team with invaluable training assistance in both formalized training and
ad hoc sessions; Coordinate with the training team to provide technical
assistance for all training ventures within the organization
- Explore opportunities to build vertical solutions for
Service Providers (OSS, SDP, IP Interoperability, Mobile Networking and
Applications) that generate incremental revenue
- Assist in obtaining product and standards approval as
required
- Provide technical support when necessary with System
Integrators, VAR’s and distribution channels.
- The Solutions Engineer will provide technical
guidance and leadership primarily to the Account Team but also to other
groups.
Qualifications and Education Requisites
- The ideal candidate has inordinate
technical comprehension and expertise in carrier deployments of:
- IP networking and
interoperability including current and emerging technologies and
standards such as Session initiation Protocol (SIP) and Electronic Number
Mapping (ENUM ).
- Service Delivery Platform
(SDP) and Service Oriented Architecture deployment and standards
- Understanding of carrier
and enterprise deployment of IP/Next Gen networks including networking
architectures and topologies
- Understanding of IP
services and technologies such as VoIP, IMS, SMS/MMS, Mobile Payments,
Mobile Offers, Presence, Location, Rich Communications Services, Telepresence, and Number Portability related
services.
- Knowledge of Numbering and
Number Portability in telecom networks.
- Knowledge of technologies
and standards in Mobile networking including 4G/LTE and WIMAX
- Knowledge of technologies
and applications driving multi-media solutions including Mobile Messaging,
IMS and Rich Communication services
- Understanding of carrier
deployment of next gen mobile networks.
The ideal candidate will possess the ability to comprehend business
requirements and influence customer decisions based on achievement of technical
objectives. Additionally:
o The
ability to determine the best strategy in selling to a customer based on the
customer’s business vs. technical nature.
- 10+ years of experience as
a Solutions / Sales Engineer in the telecommunications occupation.

Education:
- A minimum
of a Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline. Equivalent experience
and education will be considered.
